My 2011: Jeanbart from Omnikrom
Puisque son groupe, Omnikrom, était en période d’écriture d’album en 2011, Jeanbart a dû prendre le temps d’apprécier tout ce qui se trouvait autour de lui afin d’y puiser son inspiration. Disons qu’il y a pire dans la vie que se laisser guider par le plaisir! Notre ambassadeur de la poutine nous confie donc ses meilleurs souvenirs de cette année de plaisir.
Since Omnikrom was working on new material for most of 2011, Jeanbart found his inspiration in everything that surrounded him, taking the time to appreciate it all. Let’s just say that there is worse in life than to push your own self to have fun! Our poutine ambassador told us in his own words how great this year has been for him.
Le moment dont tu as été la plus fière en 2011?
Le jour où l’on a officiellement enregistré la première maquette pour notre 3e album. On était assez fier, et le plus drôle c’est qu’au final la chanson ne sera peut-être pas sur l’album. Mais le moment où tu comprends que l’album est officiellement commencé est un réel déclencheur pour la suite.
Proudest moment of 2011?
The day we officially started to record the first draft of our third album, we were so proud! The funniest thing is that everything we recorded that day probably won’t even make it onto the album. But the moment you tell yourself that you actually started to work on new material is the best way to get motivated.
Ton meilleur voyage en 2011?
Je n'ai pas voyagé beaucoup cette année, mais cet automne nous sommes allés faire des shows à Edmonton en Alberta. C'était assez spécial d'aller faire des shows en français dans l'Ouest canadien. Le monde est sur le party pas mal à Edmonton! J’ai bien aimé la ville, on a visité leur équivalent du Mile-End et mangé de la poutine. Seul regret: on n’a pas visité le centre d'achat géant. Next time.
Best trip of 2011?
I haven’t traveled that much this year except for this fall when we did a gig in Edmonton, Alberta. It was pretty special to perform in French in Western Canada. There are real party people out there! I liked the city very much. We visited a neighbourhood that is their equivalent of the Mile-End and ate poutine. My only regret was that I didn’t have time to visit the giant mall. Maybe next time!

Là, il y a triple égalité. J'ai enfin trouvé le fit de jeans parfait pour moi, les WESC Eddy. J’ai trouvé les bottes parfaites, les Clarks Desert Mali Beeswax et j'ai repris goût à porter des casquettes depuis que mes amis de 123klan m'ont donné leur "Oh Merde" de la collection Bandit-1$m.
Favorite clothing purchase of 2011?
We have a triple draw right here. I finally found the perfect fit of jeans: the Eddy from WESC. I also found my favourite pair of boots ever, the Desert Mali Beeswax from Clarks and I started wearing hats again, thanks to that « Oh Merde » snap back from Bansit-1$m that my friends from 123Klan gave me.
Chansons préférées de 2011?
J'irais avec "Power" de Das Racist, surtout pour le bout où Danny Brown embarque. Ça me donne des frissons à chaque fois. Grosse mention aussi à "Ghetto" de Terius Nash. C'est vraiment dur de faire la synthèse d'une année avec seulement une chanson...
Favorite songs of the year?
I would have to go with « Power » from Das Racist, especially the part where Danny Brown jumps in. I get shivers each and every time. I also have to mention « Ghetto » from Terius Nash. It is so hard to pick only one song!
Quelle est ta résolution pour 2012?
Être plus hustler que jamais. Travailler plus fort, avoir plus d'idée, prendre plus de risque. J'ai réussi en étant paresseux, alors imaginez ce que je ferai en travaillant fort.
What’s your New Year's resolution?
Hustle more than ever. Work harder, have more ideas, take more chances… I succeeded thus far while being lazy; imagine what I’ll accomplish by working hard!
