Osheaga 2012 : 3 Excellentes Raisons d’Avoir Hâte au Festival
S’il y a une chose qui caractérise Montréal l’été, c’est bien les festivals. Osheaga, le plus important festival dédié à la musique et aux arts visuels au Canada, est l’événement tant attendu de l’été pour le mélomane qui sommeille en nous. Voici trois excellentes raisons d’avoir hâte au 3 août.
Osheaga 2012: Three Reasons We Can’t Wait For The Festival
If there’s one thing that defines summertime in Montreal, it’s the festivals. Osheaga, the only music festival of its kind and scale in Canada, is often the crowning event for the raging melomaniacs among us. Here are three excellent reasons why we are so psyched up for the 2012 edition.
1. Les petits nouveaux sont aussi hot que les têtes d’affiche
Les têtes d'affiche, The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg, Feist et les dieux français de la musique électronique, Justice, ne sont que la pointe de l’iceberg. En effet, vous pourrez aussi danser sans répit au rythme des succès des vétérans canadiens de la indie pop, Metric, qui ont récemment lancé leur album, Synthetica, ou encore chanter (très fort, en gang) les succès du populaire groupe indie rock de Brooklyn, Yeasayer. Finalement le groupe fun. présentera des chansons extraites de son dernier album (un succès instantané), dont l’incontournable We Are Young. 1. The big names aren’t even the best part
Headliners The Black Keys, Snoop Dogg and Feist are just the start of all that you’ve got to look forward to this year. French electronic gods Justice will also be on hand to get your trunk moving, as will Canadian indie pop veterans Metric, who’ve just released their latest album, Synthetica. The dreamy sound of Brooklyn indie rockers Yeasayer will make for perfect summer sing-alongs while fun. will be serving up tunes from this year’s overnight hit album – including the way-catchy We Are Young – so if you weren’t able to make their most recent tour, now’s your chance.
2. Nos artistes locaux préférés seront en vedette sur cette scène internationale
Osheaga fait également place aux talents locaux. Chaque année, le festival présente quelques-uns des meilleurs artistes qui font bouger les dancefloor de la ville. L'édition de cette année propose entre autres le groupe rock Plants and Animals, dont l’album The End of That est paru en 2011. Il y aura aussi plusieurs artistes francophones de qualité dont Avec Pas D'Casque qui offrira ses créations folks éclectiques et Dumas, qui charmera de nouveau avec ses chansons aux mélodies envoûtantes.
2. Our favorite local artists on the international stage
Every year, Osheaga acts as a global sounding board for some of the most buzz-worthy acts local to our dear city. This year’s edition boasts Montreal rockers Plants and Animals, who released their folk-rock-tastic new album titled The End of That in 2011. Francophone group Avec Pas D’Casque will offer up their eclectic folk-driven creations, and Québécois mainstay Dumas will be performing his enamoring songs.
3. Des nouveaux artistes prometteurs à découvrir
Du hip-hop du duo torontois The Airplane Boys aux intrigants Français de indie pop The Dø, Osheaga offre de nombreuses occasions d'entendre des artistes de classe mondiale, qui vous sont peut-être encore inconnus. À ne pas manquer : le groupe suédois de synthpop, Little Dragon, qui partagera son mélange inventif de voix et de rythmes pop électroniques samedi.
3. All of the new and up-and-coming artists to discover
From hip-hop by Toronto duo The Airplane Boys to the intriguing French indie pop stylings of The Dø, Osheaga serves up plenty of opportunities to see and hear world-class artists that you may not yet be familiar with.
Pour des performances vocales puissantes et retentissantes, la programmation du vendredi soir promet de vous laisser sans voix notamment avec la sirène Florence Welch, de Florence + the Machine. Finalement, vous pourrez vibrer aux sons du synthpop sombre de l’auteure-compositrice russo-américaine Zola Jesus, en prestation dimanche.
Case in point: Swedish synthpop group Little Dragon will be presenting their inventive synergy of soulful vocals and rhythms with electronic pop on Saturday. For powerful vocal performances, Friday night promises a riveting set by siren Florence Welch of Florence + the Machine. Then, on Sunday, you can vibe out to the dark, ambient and synthpop sounds of Russian-American singer-songstress Zola Jesus.
