Upcoming Event: Pop Montreal
Since 2002, Pop Montreal has thrilled locals and visitors alike with a series of performances by big-name international artists as well as emerging musical talent from around the world. The 2012 edition, which takes place from September 19-23, will be no exception, especially with a feature event by none other than The Based God himself, hip hop sensation Lil B.
Montreal-born electronic musician and sound artist Tim Hecker is also poised to resonate the audience with his digital vibes and sounds from beyond while Australian singer-songwriter Gotye will no doubt perform his commercially successful indie pop ballad hit, Somebody That I Used to Know.
In terms of American artists, Grizzly Bear will charm spectators with their signature psych and indie folk along with Gang Gang Dance, who will perform their traditional tribal and experimental rhythms.
Other shows that are not to be missed include disco master Jimmy "Bo" Horne, the eternal Chilly Gonzales, the contagious folly of Deerhoof and electro-dance queen Peaches.
