Acne Studios Opens New York Flagship with Lykke Li Show [photos]
Sweden's Acne Studios celebrated the opening of their New York flagship this past Tuesday with a performance from Swedish chanteuse Lykke Li (pictured) at Il Buco Alimentari. The cocktail and dinner party — where several guests wore traditional Swedish midsummer wildflower crowns — was apparently not expecting an appearance from the beautiful singer, but her performance of "I Follow Rivers" along with two new songs was most welcome at the event.
Although he missed the performance, Miike Snow member Andrew Wyatt stopped by, as did Shala Monroque, Magnus Berger, Caroline Winberg, Hanneli Mustaparta and Solange Knowles according to WWD. Acne designer Jonny Johansson was most pleased with Acne's recent acquisition at 33 Greene Street where their new flagship now stands. "I wanted to hang on to our Swedishness, in designing the store. The historical references in New York are always very visible to me, and I wanted to take a very Swedish slant with our space…inspired by Gustavian design, very clean, very pure….We’re very happy with how it turned out."
New York City fashion is always welcome to new exports, especially from a place as apt as Sweden, so this new spot for Acne will make for a great new addition to SoHo.
