Better Know A Blogger: Aimee Blaut

Aimee Blaut

Aimee Blaut's site The Formula is a beauty lover's dream, showcasing the grooming routines of editors, singers and other talented, attractive people. She spoke to us about what motivated her to start the site, her favorite beauty products and what she likes to do when she is not photographing beautiful people.

How did you pick the name of your site?
After hours of brainstorming. A great deal of what I do involves sitting down with beautiful women while they divulge their beauty secrets. Everyone I meet with is in the process of working out their "formula."

How did you first get interested in beauty and what made you decide to start a blog?
When I was a little girl I used to sneak into my mom's bathroom to try on her makeup, so that part came naturally. After college I kept a diary of the interesting art I came across on Tumblr, that was my first real introduction to blogging. I knew I wanted to do something combining beauty and photography and The Formula was born.

What is your all-time favorite beauty product?
As much as I LOVE trying products (yes please send me the entire Amore Pacific line), my staple is Fresh's Soy Face Cleanser. It takes off all my eye makeup and is super gentle. I'm also known to have a certain affinity for Givenchy lipstick. . .

Have you gotten any good/unusual beauty advice from any of your subjects?
The honey mask! I did an interview with a designer who mixes honey, brown sugar and whole yoghurt. I tried it and have since become addicted. It leaves my skin super soft.

Who is your celebrity beauty icon?
It can change daily, but at the moment I'm feeling very 1960's Ana Karina. She was all about the eyes and used copious amounts of mascara on her bottom lashes.

When I am not blogging I like to…
Eat candy and read Swedish novels.
