Damien Hirst's “The Complete Spot Paintings" @ Gagosian Gallery
Known to create both grand and jaw-dropping pieces of art (formaldehyde calf with gold horns and hooves, anyone?), Damien Hirst's upcoming exhibition and precursor to his career retrospective at The Tate Modern in London is decidedly understated. Approximately 300 works will be on display at all three Gagosian spaces, both uptown and downtown. The most prominent of the Young British Artist movement, Hirst only painted around five of the paintings himself and the rest have been created by assistants (though he has humbly deemed them better than his own works.) Head there next Thursday to see a living art legend's newest works.
