Producers Eugene Cho and Dan Balis are leaders of the 17-member "disco orchestra" known as Escort. Featuring the luscious voice of singer Adeline Michèle, their sound harkens back to an age when R&B and disco were integral elements of dance music. With their self-titled full-length album dropping digitally this week (look for the physical product in January), and upcoming pair of Brooklyn shows — a DJ showcase on November 18 at the Cameo with Prince Language and Darshan Jesrani, and December 17 gig at the Music Hall of Williamsburg with Midnight Magic — "Makeover" is a fine example of the outfit's soulful brand of back-to-the-future digifunk. Take a listen and get ready to move your waistline to their funky basslines.
