It's a pairing that almost seems like the material for a particularly esoteric sitcom: moody, mysterious band of Brooklyn dream-pop practitioners meets a gang of glammed-out, disco-doused extroverts who hail from the same city but seem to occupy a different world. Now replace the Odd Couple theme you're probably hearing in your head with The Scissor Sisters' new remix of School of Seven Bells' single, "Lafaye," because they're the two groups in our giddy little scenario.

These two NYC acts might not get their own TV show together, but The Scissor Sisters' remix of SoSB's track will turn plenty of heads anyhow. If you've been paying attention lately, you already got a sneak peek at the latter's upcoming album, Ghostory (out on 2/28), when we posted another cut from it. So you may already be aware that their blend of shoegazery pop and ambient-tinged electronics is more danceable than ever on their latest effort. This fact was apparently not lost on The Scissor Sisters either, as they're capable of honing in on a club-friendly beat from miles away. They took "Lafaye" — a song that already had some locomotion potential to begin with — and amped up the danceability to 11. It makes for a nice lead-up to the synthy, spooky sounds of Ghostory, but it's also a pretty good party-starter in and of itself.
