Event Recap: Capital Cities at Lilium
Los Angeles outfit Capital Cities make infectious pop songs fueled by electronic instrumentation. Last night the group tore through New York City, performing in front of a packed crowd at Lilium. Opening one's set with a cover is a ballsy move, but that didn't stop the band — who were dressed in Hawaiian shirts, by the way — from conjuring up a soulful, heartfelt rendition of Prince's "Nothing Compares 2 U." The title track from their recent Kangaroo Court EP was also a standout, with their utterly perfect "Safe and Sound" serving as the pièce de résistance of a memorable party.
