Event Recap: Mad Decent Block Party New York [Gallery]
Mad Decent's Block Party co-sponsored by Société Perrier rolled into Williamsburg Park in Brooklyn on Sunday. But what was hotter: the crowd or the music? A string of Diplo-blessed acts entertained a few thousand sweaty scenesters who continued to strip off layers of clothing as they got down to a day's worth of incredible music.
Opener Zebra Katz and partner-in-rhyme Njena Reddd Foxxx "read" the crowd, dropping a rousing rendition of "Ima Read." Bosco Del Rey kicked up a hell-raising set of rockabilly and Bonde do Rolê stomped around the stage, spraying the crowd with everything from beer to whatever they could get their hands on.
While a lightning storm during Erol Alkan's set forced the the party to a premature end before headliners Major Lazer could drop their bass-heavy riddims, the consensus was that the Mad Decent crew knows how to throw a mad party.
