Happy Birthday Bergdorf's: The Iconic Store Turns 111
Despite being one of fashion's most lauded institutions, Bergdorf Goodman has never made much of a fuss about their birthday. Year 111, however, has struck a chord with the famed retailer, and come September 4 a seasons-long celebration will be underway. WWD reports that Bergdorf's celebratory year of choice signifies what makes it special — being a singular store, in just one city, that offers one, unrivaled experience.
Although Bergdorf Goodman is a fashion institution, that by no means the fashion they carry is old school. Soon BG will open the first U.S. shop-in-shop for The Row, the collection designed by the Olsen twins. The store also continues to carry edgy labels like Opening Ceremony, Carven and Theysken's Theory. A thriving social media presence anchored by their popular blog has made the store a major player online as well.
Every floor, elevator and hall will be marked with Birthday-esque touches, and more than 100 designers have commissioned exclusive products for the milestone, including Gucci, Prada and Jason Wu.
This all sounds chic enough, but there will be even more surprises, including a Fifth Avenue facade facelift, that we'll just have to wait to see. [via WWD]
