Intercontinental House Party: Todd Terry Meets 2 Bears
No, it isn't some sort of DJ retelling of a children's story — Todd Terry really did meet The 2 Bears, but it didn't happen in a forest and there was no porridge involved. The Bears in question were British electro-dance duo Joe Goddard (click here to see Goddard talk about how a cocktail inspired a future Hot Chip song) and Raf Rundell, of course, and NYC house legend Todd Terry is crossing paths with the pair in all sorts of different contexts these days.
Terry has directed his considerable remixing talents towards giving The 2 Bears tracks "Get Together" and "Ghosts and Zombies" from their Be Strong album a new slant, shot through with deep echoes of dub and house. You can hear them on the Todd Terry Remixes EP (Well, what else are you gonna call it?) that drops on August 28 via the Southern Fried label. But that's not all — Rundell also interviewed Terry on camera for the Topman CTRL series (see below), and soon The 2 Bears will be sharing a bill with the renowned house hero. On October 26, Terry, Goddard, and Rundell will all be bringing the beats as part of the Bugged Out nights, at London's XOYO. Be advised: while the Brits have been known to don ursine outfits, it's unlikely that Terry will be taking the role of Goldilocks.
