Meet Your Mixologist: Yusef Austin
Yusef Austin is a cocktail architect, creating delicious concoctions all over the world. Currently working at the illustrious Boom Boom Room, Austin created two incredible signature drinks for the property: the Rosy Melons (vodka, rosemary aquavit, cantaloupe, fresh lemons, sugar and a rosemary sprig) and the Lucha Libre (tequila, agave, lime, pear puree, mezcal spray and taragon.) The bouquet of fresh fruit and aromatic ingredients make for an all-around experience.
"I like to create cocktails that don't just taste but also smell good — a sensory journey,"says Austin.
When he's not catering to the well-heeled crowd at the Top of The Standard, Austin flies around the world to ensure that partygoers have a chance to sample top-shelf libations. His recent trips in the name of mixology include Gstaad, Capri and Sardinia.
