Mexico's Hôtel Americano Opening Soon

This past weekend Hôtel Americano opened its doors to the ladies from Mex in the City and their VIP guests for a little Sunday pool party at La Piscine on the roof deck.

The Sunday fete had a guest list which was comprised of folks in the worlds of music, art, film and fashion. Proprietors Carlos Courtier and Moises Micha also joined the festivities, which gave them the chance to meet some of their fellow Mexican's who are movers and shakers in the New York scene.

Guests got to sip on ice-cold Perrier, cocktails by Milagro, Dos Equis beers and snacks of ceviche tostaditas by Tacombi and paletas in coconut, cucumber and mango chile flavors by La NewYorkina. Musical beats were provided by 255K, a Mexico City DJ group based in Brooklyn.

Hôtel Americano is the first USA hotel for Mexican Grupo Habita which has ten other properties through out Mexico. Grupo Habitat really brought to life the concept of boutique hotels in Mexico. Having stayed at four of their properties, I speak from experience... these guys definitely know what they are doing.

For this project Grupo Habita teamed up with Enrique Norten, a Mexico City-based architect who splits his time between Mexico and New York. Together they were able to convert an old parking garage to a gorgeous metal ten-story hotel.

The Americano, the restaurant on the first floor, will be serving up Latin infused, French brasserie style cuisine. The basement will have another bar open to the public, and if you're lucky enough to be considered a VIP, then El Privado the basement lounge will become the cozy spot where sipping imported Mezcal will be the norm.

The hotel has not officially opened but will start taking reservations on September 5th.

During New York Fashion Week Hôtel Americano will be the place to be.
