My 5 Favorite Things: Jeffrey Tonnesen
Jeffrey Tonnesen moves seamlessly between the music and the fashion world with residencies at Lavo NY, Avenue, 1 OAK and PH-D, as well creating the musical backdrop for fashion shows like ACNE, Rag + Bone, and Diane Von Furstenberg. His musical talents have taken him around the world. Here he lets Société Perrier in on some of his favorite places to eat, shop and party.
1. Restaurant: Momofuku Noodle Bar. I'm a bit of a foodie and definitely try to stay on top of new restaurants in the city, but I always find myself back at this spot for the pork buns and miso ramen.
2. Designer: ACNE. I've really been into ACNE lately. I got to work on their show music a couple times last year and the jeans I got are perfect.
3. Store: eBay. This is only place to find the one-of-a-kind item no one else has. I've found some of my favorite items just browsing the site when get home from work at 5 am.
4. Supply Shop: Turntable Lab. The lab is the only establishment in the city specifically geared for the professional DJ and is always a great spot to run into other DJs and talk shop. When I stop in to get new records, I'll also grab a couple 12"s while I'm there. Their stock is succinct — not too much that is overwhelming, but just enough that I can spend a bit of time flipping through crates. It's also rad that I live two blocks away.
5. NYC Venue: Lavo. This is definitely my favorite club to spin and to go see big acts. The space is the perfect size so it feels like a big club, but it's also intimate. They consistently get the heavy hitters like Chuckie and Avicii, who are normally playing to thousands of people. The lighting and sound design are spectacular.
