My 5 Favorite Things: May Kwok

May Kwok

May Kwok navigates the NYC fashion and music world with effortless style bouncing from her gig as freelance designer relations representative/editor of LOOKK.com to DJing Chinatown hotspot, Red Egg to being a fixture at fashion events. Featured on countless blogs for her monochromatic black style, Kwok is known for her discerning taste. Here she shares her five favorite things with us.

1. Spa: Great Jones Spa. Great Jones Spa is my perfect Sunday afternoon getaway after a long week of working and DJing. For $50 you can hang out in the water lounge and use the Jaccuzzi, sauna and steam room. I always feel great an detoxified afterwards.

2. Jewelry: Moratorium. I am a big supporter of emerging designers. Moratorium is a new jewelry line designed and hand crafted by my girlfriend Jeanette Lai. The collection takes inspiration from lines, forms and structures that are both man-made and natural. She self taught herself how to work with precious metals like silver and I really appreciate her dedication to the collection.

3. Store: Celine: I am jumping on the band wagon with this answer — but I am obsessed with Celine and Phoebe Philo. She is a minimalist genius and because of her Celine is now one of the most coveted luxury designer today.

4. Restaurant: Takahachi. Hands down the best authentic Japanese restaurant in NYC. Be careful though, you can never go to Takahachi and have a "quiet" dinner. You'll always bump into someone you know — whether you like them or not.

5. Designer: NOMIA (Yara Flinn). Yara is one of my best friends. I remember first time I saw Yara: I recognized her taste seeing her black boots, they were Jil Sander. Obviously that's when I knew we'd be friends for a long time! Nomia is a sophisticated and directional line out of Brooklyn. I own so many staple Nomia pieces in my wardrobe (the black pieces of course) but she loves playing with color which I appreciate. Nomia is showing her Fall 2012 collection at The Box at Lincoln Center showing this upcoming fashion week.
