Longevity is bestowed upon only a chosen few in clubland, a medium that grooves along at a frenetic pace. New York indie imprint Nervous Records is the Energizer Bunny of dance music labels, and they have weathered every fleeting musical fad and trend (remember happy hardcore?) since their inception in 1991.

Right now the label is rightfully taking a victory lap to commemorate 20 clubtastic years. Having released two decades of music produced by the likes of countless global house heroes — Louie Vega, Josh Wink, Armand Van Helden, Junior Vasquez, and too many others to mention — it's only fitting to take a look back on their global success.

“We started in 1991 in a Times Square office when Times Square was still a dead zone,” recalls label founder Mike Weiss, “and we traveled often into the gold-paved avenues of East Brooklyn and the South Bronx when hip-hop hits were emerging from those areas. When the city got rich and glammy in the late ‘90s, our tunes turned into uplifting diva anthems that could fill the emerging crop of big-room NYC clubs.”

With a commemorative anniversary mix CD just released, Nervous House 20 mixed by CJ Mackintosh, DJ Nervous has presented Société Perrier with an exclusive 20-track mix featuring one track from each year of the label’s existence.

Says Weiss, “We've lasted for two decades, and I don't see any reason why we should not roll strong for another decade at least.”

Here’s looking forward to the next 20.
