Tune-Yards Announce Summer Tour
Last year, Tune-Yards released one of the most innovative, thought provoking, and most of all, fun records of 2011 with whokill. As great as that record may be, it still doesn't hold a candle to the band's live show, which consists of Merrill Garbus making live drum loops that backdrop her ukulele and guitar, accompanied by Nate Brenner on bass, and a pair of saxophonists, which give their songs an out of this world sound. One aspect that is often overlooked when critics describe the band's sound is Garbus' voice -- a key element to the band's greatness, as it frequently warbles up and down from bellowing lows, to piercing highs, often in the same song. Garbus and company will be bringing their show on the road this summer, enlightening several spots in the US and Europe with their experimental, afrobeat stylings, and socially conscious songcraft. The always unpredictable indie pop songstress, St. Vincent will also be tagging along for a pair of west coast dates.
