Upcoming Event: Cindy Sherman @ MoMA
Cindy Sherman is well known for her conceptual portraits. Since the mid-'70s, she's captivated the art world with her ability to create personas through her photography, which deconstructs personal identity, self-representation, and the fourth wall behind the art form. From now until June, a new exhibition entitled simply "Cindy Sherman," will be featured at The Museum of Modern Art, showcasing highlights from Sherman's entire career, from her early work such as the United Film Stills series, her 1981 centerfolds piece, and her early '80s fashion photography, to her much loved historical portraits piece, her breakthrough sex pictures of 1992, and her 2008 society portraits. This exhibit will have the lion's share of the artist's most celebrated work. After its ample stay at the MoMA, "Cindy Sherman" will be heading to San Francisco, Minneapolis, and Dallas, so be sure to see it before it makes its journey out west.
