水陸両用バスが登場 後編
タイヤのついたこの船は「SKY Duck（スカイダック）」という水陸両用のバス。陸上をスイスイと走り、水の上もスイスイと泳ぐ、大注目のすごいバスで…と、〈前編〉ではそのスペックをご紹介しましたが、〈後編〉ではついに水上に突入です。
An Amphibian Bus Starts Its Service—Part 2
This boat with tires is an amphibian bus called “SKY Duck.” It’s the hottest item right now and can both run on land and swim smoothly in waters. We looked at its specifications in Part 1. Here in Part 2, it actually goes into water.
ゆっくりと水に入っていくのかと思いきや、かなりのスピードでスロープを下って、水面に突っ込んでいきます。着水と同時に大きな水しぶきが上がり、添乗客から歓声が上がりました。まるでアミューズメントパークのアトラクションのような迫力で、操縦席のフロントガラスも前が見えないほど。
Contrary to my expectation that it would go slowly into water, it ran down the ramp at a fairly fast speed. Upon hitting the water, it made a big splash and passengers gave a scream of delight. The intensity was just like that of amusement park attractions; the front window of the driver’s seat was all white and we couldn’t see a thing.
ところが、いったん水に浮いてしまうと穏やかなもので、キラキラと光る水面をスイスイと進んでいきます。バスガイドさん、ではなく、船ガイドさんが案内してくれます。
The moment it floats, however, it becomes calm and smooth on the shimmering water. The bus guide, or rather boat guide, then begins the tour.
どんな想いを乗せて、「SKY Duck」を運行したいか運営者の皆さんにインタビューしてみました。 「SKY Duckは、40年以上前からバス・タクシー会社などを経営している日の丸自動車興行の富田社長が8年前に発案しました。当初、社長の発案に社員はとても驚いたとのことです。最も苦労したのは、入水のためのスロープの施設がTOKYOになかったこと。しかし、念願叶って、水辺環境の活用を考えていた江東区とタッグを組むことになりました」。また、「ワクワクするエンターテイメントのようなバスを作りたかった。TOKYOはまだまだ観光面で未開拓な部分が多いのでSKY Duckでさらに開拓できると嬉しい。一般公開時には東京スカイツリーや桜の名所を楽しんでもらいたい。一番はじめに乗せたいのは、ファミリーですね」と社長。
添乗員さんは「迫力ある水しぶきがあがるので、テーマパークのアトラクションに乗ってもらうような体験をして欲しい。個人的には綺麗なお台場の夜景をスカイダックで見に行けたら素敵ですね♪」と語ってくれた。
大注目のTOKYOの新しい乗り物です。2012年秋が待ち遠しいですね。
We interviewed the management about what kind of passion they would want to carry on board. “Eight years ago, President Tomita of Hinomaru Jidousya Kougyou Company, who has been managing bus and taxi companies, came up with the idea of Sky Duck. I heard that, at first, the company employees were very surprised by his idea. The most difficult part, however, was that there were no ramps in Tokyo to put the bus into water. But our wish came true and we joined forces with Koto Ward, which had been planning to put its coast areas into practical use.” President said, “I wanted to build a bus that gives you excitement just like from entertainment. It would be great if SKY Duck can help to develop tourism in Tokyo, which is still underdeveloped in many parts of the city. When it starts its service, I hope people will enjoy the tour of Tokyo Sky Tree and the places famous for cherry blossoms. First, I want to give my family a ride.”
A tour conductor said, “With dynamic splashes, people can have an experience like that on a ride in a theme park. Personally, it would be wonderful if I could go and watch Odaiba’s town lights at night by SKY Duck. ♪”
The hottest new ride in Tokyo. Can’t wait the fall of 2012!
