Adaline is Back in Toronto With Her Moody Electro Pop

SP_Adaline_adalinemusic.com_598X335

Currently wrapping up a tour in Western Canada, Vancouver native Adaline will be returning to Toronto this summer to play gigs across the city. Her first big event is NXNE, where she will be performing at the Gladstone Hotel Ballroom on June 13th. Her music, sometimes described as pop-noir or moody electro pop, has earned her a strong following Canada-wide. Société Perrier was able to catch up with Adaline and ask her about her upcoming return to Toronto.

What is your favourite venue in Toronto?
I haven't come close to playing all of them yet, but I would say so far I really enjoy The Rivoli – it's a good size for an intimate show. I have a gig at the Mod Club on June 23rd and I've always wanted to play that room so I'm excited about that.

Describe a perfect night in Toronto and your favourite area of the city.
Toronto is such a great patio city so I'm sure a perfect evening would include some patio time. I also love Toronto Island. Last summer, I spent a lot of time there, swimming well into the evening and having picnics. I live right near Baldwin Village and enjoy hanging out there. It's so quaint and peaceful.

What are you looking forward to during NXNE?
I love seeing my friends from Vancouver in town. It's always like a mini reunion. NXNE also has a much more laid-back vibe, which I enjoy, along with lots of patio parties, cocktails and BBQs, of course!

Your voice would sound great remixed into a deep track by a DJ. Any plans to explore something along those lines?
Actually, I released an official remix of "The Noise" by Clean Dirt only a couple of weeks ago. I also just gave out the stems for "The Noise" for remixes. I've gotten a couple back so far. I think about 70 people are reworking the song and it's so fun to hear what they come up with. I would definitely love to do more remixes over the next couple of months.

As for what’s next for Adaline, she plans to start releasing her album in other countries and hopefully do some more touring. You can download songs from her second album, Modern Romantics, on iTunes and via her website at adalinemusic.com.
