HARD Festival: 3 Reasons to Dance the Heat Away

SP_HARD_byCeasarSebastian_598X335

It’s not always easy to stay cool in Toronto during the summer months. Sometimes, you need to break a sweat to remain cool. The best way to achieve a cool sweat is by diving head first into some extraordinary music in the great outdoors. Nothing beats dancing to hot beats under the sun and then cooling off under stars, and the HARD Festival at Fort York has the biggest and the brightest. Here are three reasons to dance HARD and keep cool come August.

1. The music, because that’s what HARD Festival is all about.

Dancing up a storm is easy with Portugal’s Buraka Som Sistema, whose fusion of techno and African kuduro exploding with polyrhythms cranks up the heat in a nanosecond. On the other hand, local lady Austra with her cool synthopop darkwave is a beautifully chilling respite from the heat, while M83’s dreamy electropop is the musical ticket to the hard slap of Justice. The second album of French duo Justice, audio, video, disco, mixes up Italo-disco with 70s arena rock influences, is making them the perfect headliners for this massive outdoor festival.

HARD’s combo of cool electro and hot rhythms is indeed a powerful mix.

2. To flaunt your style savvy

Festivals are the ultimate occasion to expose your inner fashionista by rocking an outfit that combines glamour and practicality. Relaxed glamour is all about working it effortlessly (despite how much planning went into your ensemble) and remembering to play it cool, no matter how hot it is outside.

3. Keeping it fresh and partying in style

Enjoying a cocktail or simply rehydrating, with a Perrier, of course, in the open air is one of the sublime joys of summertime. Be sure to add some fizz here and there during the weekend to stay cool and composed, even while you’re losing it to the music.

Saturday, August 4th at Fort York’s Garrison Common.  Enjoy the festival!
