Melody Bar Named One of The World’s Top 10 Bars
The Melody Bar is located in the Gladstone, the oldest continuously operating hotel in Toronto. The 37-room establishment was restored to its former glory and then some by daughter and father team Christina and Eb Zeidler, helping to drive rapid growth and development in the Queen West area. A hotel amenity open to guests, locals and visitors alike (even celebrities, including Sarah Polley, Rachel McAdams, Sandra Oh, Ellen Paige and Adrian Grenier!), the Melody Bar boasts a suave, lounge atmosphere during the day; at night, it transforms into an exclusive place for great cocktails and socializing.
The Melody Bar has the unique distinction of having been named one of the world’s top ten bars in the scope of the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards. Jeremy Vandermeij, Gladstone’s Director of Marketing and PR, explains its universal appeal: "The bar’s attractive decor features a perfect mix of historical Victorian elements and contemporary art and furnishings, including ornate lighting fixtures by Orest Tataryn and Kathryn Walter. It's half lounge and half dining room, with intimate living room areas to relax among friends, sip drinks, and enjoy exquisite dining seated along the hotel’s original solid wood harvest tables."
Voted Best Karaoke Bar for eight years straight by NOW Magazine, Melody Bar is definitely the place to sing your heart out. Cocktail hour, another popular attraction, runs Monday to Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m. The ideal moment to try The Last Word, made of Beefeater 24, Maraschino liqueur, green Chartreuse and lime juice.
Although the details are still being kept under wraps, rumor has it that a new cocktail menu is about to be unveiled. It therefore appears that Melody Bar customers can soon choose from a new array of exquisite cocktails, spiked with a double-shot of glamour, of course, in order to quench their thirst for spirited outings in the city. See you there.
