SPiN
SPiN Galactic social clubs have taken North America’s social scene by storm with a mix of sport, design and entertainment since its 2009 New York launch. Created by owners Franck Raharinosy, Andrew Gordon, Jonathan Bricklin and Academy Award-winning actress Susan Sarandon, SPiN defines a social club that covers more than the act of playing table tennis; it is a place to socialize, have a cocktail and engage in a nostalgic activity with friends. The Toronto franchise boasts a 12,000-square-foot club featuring 12 of the highest quality tables, Olympic-quality flooring, custom-designed lighting, two full bars and change rooms. The restaurant serves snack-style tapas including mini tacos, grilled cheese and a variety of sliders.
Keeping with the tradition of the SPiN brand, player portraits cover the walls of the private room, which also features a custom-made table. There is also a pro shop on site that offers various merchandise, accessories and equipment, and an option for players to order custom paddles with a choice of colours and handles to personalize their game.
For those looking to step up their game, SPiN Toronto is launching the SPiN Ladder, a continuous Ping-Pong tournament designed to challenge everyone from the highly skilled to the novice player. The objective is to find an opponent, challenge them and play your heart out, and climb to the top of the virtual ladder through a points system. Players can log on to record their results, watch points being gained or lost and challenge players on a higher rung to play your way up the ladder. More winning means more points, and more points increases players’ SPiN ladder status.
