Sundance Diaries: Mick Boogie

By Jeff Meltz

Every year, thousands of people from around the globe descend on Park City, Utah for the Sundance Film Festival, the largest independent cinema festival in the world. Yet, aside from the dozens of features and short films screened, the nightlife scene at Sundance has become its own story, with surprise performances and DJ sets happening every night and celebrity sightings occurring almost nonstop.

This year, we decided to ask some of our favorite DJs in attendance to throw various parties to document their experiences for a feature we’re calling “Sundance Diaries.” In addition to providing their own recaps of their days, we also asked them to help tell their stories by using the Instagram app on their phones, so check out the photo gallery below the recap to see what some of our favorite nightlife party-starters saw during their time at Sundance this weekend.

Continuing with our series, today we bring you the “Sundance Diary” of Mick Boogie, one of the best all-around DJs in the world. NYC-based Boogie has helmed the turntables at A-list events around the world, including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, Barcelona, Cannes, Beijing, Toronto, Paris, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Dubai and of course, his adopted hometown of New York City. He’s worked on projects for the likes of The Grammys, Adele, Kanye West, Coldplay, Jay-Z, and more. Leading up to this year’s Sundance, Mick worked with friend and fellow DJ Terry Urban on a mixtape specifically for Sundance.

Saturday, January 21 – Saturday at Sundance was so much fun. Still recovering from my set the night before at Bing Bar. The snow was crazy but beautiful. The Miami Oasis gifting suite was packed with celebs and tastemakers getting their free-stuff on. I had fun providing the sounds. Can’t wait for tomorrow.

Sunday, January 22 – Sundance concluded with a great day of work and rest. From deejaying the Talent Resources suite to sitting VIP at Drake‘s private concert. It was pretty fun. I also took some time to relax and chill with my wife as Park City is one of the most beautiful places in America. Can’t wait until next year!
