Broken Shaker Packing It In Next Week

By Doug Bleggi

The Broken Shaker will be closing its doors next week but not before going out with a series of parties. The cocktail hot spot will be kicking off its closing week on Sunday, May 20 before owners Elad Zvi and Gabriel Orta leave Miami to set up shop in New York. “It’s been a great experience,” says Orta. “Both industry people and people who just want a good cocktail have embraced us and it feels good.”

Sunday night’s party will be the official going away party with live music, games, free drinks and food. Monday night will be an industry event, a meet up for one last drink with local movers and (pardon the pun) shakers. Tuesday will feature The Dutch’s Andrew Carmellini (who will be providing special food for the guests) with Wednesday being the final send off which is being billed as a simple goodbye drink for anyone interested in stopping by the Indian Creek Hotel that night.

Both Zvi and Orta will be bringing the pop-up lounge concept to an as yet unnamed bar in either the West Village of Lower East Side in New York City. Then in September, it’s back to Miami for a whole new location. Be sure to pay the Shaker a visit before their summer departure.
