Miami Art Week Shopping Guide: Where To Stock And Flaunt Your Art Party Wardrobe

By Evan Orensten, Cool Hunting

Next week Art Basel and its plethora of satellite fairs will hit Miami, bringing the international art community together for the industry’s most important stateside event of the year. Amidst all the new talent on display are the delegates, media and megawatt collectors there to buy, view and party into the weekend. Miami serves as a stylish backdrop to it all, playing host to the eclectic crowd both day and night. Art world fashion has come to rival the art itself, so our editors have pulled together a list of shopping events hosted throughout the week to help expressive players and party-goers dress their own blank canvas.

The Webster Miami

Centrally located in South Beach in a beautiful Art Deco building with a rooftop restaurant and gallery space, The Webster (pictured above) is the city’s go-to spot for limited-edition, considered luxury accessories and ready-to-wear. During Art Basel, British designer Stella McCartney will bring some of her hometown flavor to the Webster with a tea party for VIP fashionistas.

Prada, Agnona, Dior Homme and Luis Vuitton

Joining the likes of Cartier and Margiela, Agnona and Dior Homme will be opening temporary stores for Art Basel’s influx of dapper (and monied) art enthusiasts, while Prada opens permanently. Louis Vuitton has also unveiled a boutique in the Design District which features an exterior mural painted by LA-based artist, RETNA.

Alchemist

The glass box sitting atop the fifth floor of a redesigned parking garage is home to Alchemist, a fashion and jewelry store known for its exquisite space. In celebration of this year’s Art Basel, Alchemist debuts its collaboration with Uslu Airlines with a special lipstick named after the Miami International Airport.

Rebecca Raney for Madewell

Madewell touches down at Art Basel with a pop-up shop in the Design District’s Primary Projects Gallery. The clothing store has partnered with artist Rebecca Raney on a limited-edition collection of a pendant necklace, silk blouse, tote and cashmere sweater featuring her whimsical drawings. Once the collection is debuted at an invite-only party on 6 December, the entire Rebecca Raney x Madewell collection will be available at Madewell stores in Miami, New York and LA.

Lacoste

Lacoste has been celebrating the recent launch of their Lincoln Road location with events benefiting the Everglades. Word is, they’re planning another bash for Art Basel, and the store will be open to the public throughout the week. Certainly, nowhere is the label’s iconic crocodile more felicitous than the shores of Miami and surrounding wetlands.

Visionaire, Net-A-Porter and Mr. Porter

To debut the new SLS Hotel in South Beach, Visionaire will partner with Net-A-Porter and Mr. Porter to host a special “style challenge” and “Free Store” featuring the work of multi-media artist Jonathan Horowitz. The interactive installation encourages invited guests to bring in items to exchange in a pop-up shop that will include personal objects from artists like Marilyn Minter, fashion designer Riccardo Tisci and event host Cecilia Dean.
