Broken Shaker

By Leah Faye Cooper

It’s been said (perhaps too many times) that all good things come to an end. Few of them, however, will be as difficult to say farewell to as this inventive pop-up, now open in the courtyard of the Indian Creek Hotel. The hidden gem will only be here through June 2012, so we suggest heading there now for handcrafted tequila cocktails created by Elad Zvi and Gabriel Orta. Six variations of ice — among them whiskey spheres and 2 x 2 Old Fashioned squares — add a simple yet appreciated finishing touch to signature drinks. The homemade hummus and plantain-filled empanads will be missed when the pop-up is no more, but for now, consider corralling your friends to enjoys a Broken Shaker punch bowl — a 55-ounce elixir of spirits, fruits and juices that changes every week.
